Nine defenses took place in January and February 2026.

On January 15, Isabella Bozsa received her doctorate with a thesis on “(Post)koloniale Aneignungsgeschichten. Kooperative Provenienzforschung zur Kamerun-Sammlung am Städtischen Museum Braunschweig” (supervisor: Prof. Dr. Brigitte Reinwald, History Department).

On January 23, Anna-Lena Kökgiran received her doctorate with a thesis on “Umkämpfte Zugehörigkeit und prekäre Repräsentation – Postmigrantische Subjektpositionen im Diskurs um Citizenship. Neue Aushandlung nationaler Zugehörigkeit, Ethnizität und Solidarität in der Migrationsgesellschaft” (supervisor: Prof. Dr. Mathias Bös, Institute of Sociology).

On January 23, Lucas Prieske received his doctorate with a thesis on "Heteroperspektivität in E. T. A. Hoffmanns Lebens-Ansichten des Katers Murr, Robert Musils Der Mann ohne Eigenschaften und Sibylle Bergs  GRM. Brainfuck“ (supervisor: Prof. Dr. Birgit Nübel, German Department).

On February 2, Franziska Meyer-Lantzberg received her doctorate with a thesis on "Sentimental Soldiers?! (Lebens)Geschichten emotionaler Arbeit im Militär" (supervisor: Prof. Dr. Wagner, Institute of Sociology).

On February 4, Korbinian Gall received his doctorate with a thesis on “Die eigentümliche Komplexität soziomaterieller Fallbearbeitung. Ethnografische Studie zur Digitalisierung in und durch Jugendämter” (supervisor: Prof. Dr. Stefanie Büchner, Institute of Sociology).

On February 13, Tanja Schirmacher received her doctorate with a thesis on “Umstieg als arbeitsweltliches Phänomen. Berufsorientierung und beruflicher Neubeginn am Beispiel von Existenzgründer*innen” (supervisor: Prof. Dr. Rita Meyer, Institute of Vocational Education and Adult Education).

On February 18, Floreana Schmidt received her doctorate with a thesis on "Lehrkraft, Schüler*innen und Sache zusammendenken. Herausforderungen eines adaptiven Sachunterrichts" (supervisor: Prof. Dr. Claudia Schomaker, Institute of Special Education).

On February 23, Matthias Ackermann received his doctorate with a thesis on “From practice to epistemology: climate modeling between explanation, measurement, and prediction” (supervisor: Prof. Dr. Mathias Frisch, Institute of PhilosophyProf. Dr. Claudia Schomaker, Institute of Special Education).
